Stabilize and Reduce Operating Expenses
When you go solar, you lock in utility rates on day one. This leads to fixed electricity costs and lowered operating expenses so you can focus more on your core mission.
Solar for non-profits, local governments, public and private universities, K-12 schools, hospitals, and religious entities supports your community’s preference for clean energy while saving on operating expenses. These savings can then be used for your core mission.

Women’s Bean Project’s solar array and electric vehicle charging station will offset 120% of the building’s electrical usage, significantly reducing operating expenses and enabling the organization to further invest in its mission of supporting women’s empowerment through employment. Over the 25+ lifespan of the system, Women’s Bean Project is projected to save $300,775 in operating expenses, funding over 15,000 hours of comprehensive programs that equip women with job and life skills. This program utilized funding through the City of Denver Grant Program.

Namaste Solar has partnered with a team of mission-driven investors who are investing in solar for non-profits. These investors will finance the system up front for a specified term, after which time, they donate the system to your organization. For your non-profit, you get the benefit of taking control of your energy now, saving a significant amount of money over the 20-30 year life of the system, and a donated and well maintained solar system for your organization. All with no money out of your pocket.
This option is great if you want to go solar with no money down and pass on the maintenance responsibilities to a different party. With power purchase agreements (PPAs), a third-party financier pays for, owns, and maintains your system for a specified term, typically 25-years. You, as the non-profit or public sector entity, host the system at your location, and you pay the third-party financier or system owner an agreed upon price per kWh for the term. Because your PPA rate can be less than your cost of energy with the utility, you get the benefit of reduced operating expenses.
Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency (CASR)’s Renewables and Resilience Program has an annual pool of money they allocate to non-profits located in the city of Denver for solar, storage, and EV charging stations. To receive funds, non-profits submit an application including information on your non-profit status and bid information that’s provided by Namaste Solar. They also award additional money to non-profits who work with PV installers who pay for their electrician’s training, which is something we do at Namaste Solar. Namaste Solar completed a solar installation for Women’s Bean Project using this program.
This program works well in conjunction with grants and elective pay. It bridges the gap by offering short term loans that help non-profits and the public sector pay for any remaining system costs while you await grant funding or elective pay.
