Keep the Lights on Colorado

Together we raised $98,900 to support 395 Colorado families!

This winter, solar energy is more accessible to 395 Colorado families because of the $98,900 raised by the Keep the Lights on Colorado campaign. Namaste Solar brought businesses and individuals together to support the campaign with 16 corporate sponsors and 60 individual donors giving $43,900 to provide community solar subscriptions to low-income families. We then received an amazing gift of $55,000 from a local family foundation after they read about the campaign and wanted to support our efforts.

All the funds raised by this campaign go directly to Energy Outreach Colorado, a not-for-profit that utilizes community solar subscriptions to help Colorado families struggling to afford their home energy bills. Each subscription provides long-term stability in the form of monthly bill credits that reduce the burden of home energy costs and free up dollars for other basic needs for these families – all while utilizing the cost-saving and environmental benefits of clean solar energy. Namaste Solar led the campaign with a $10,000 donation and a month-long fundraising effort.

ABOUT ENERGY OUTREACH COLORADO

Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) believes that everyone deserves the basic necessity of being able to afford their home energy costs so they can live in a safe, warm home. Their mission is to make that a reality for Coloradoans. EOC programs provide a direct impact for the people they serve by helping them afford their energy costs, worry less, and live in a warm and safe home.

1 in 4 households struggle with a high energy burden. (Energy burden is defined as the percentage of gross household income spent on energy costs.)
These households are spending a disproportionate amount of their income on energy bills. The energy burden on low-income households is 3x that of higher income households.
Households that meet or are below the 80% area median income threshold are often making difficult decisions because their home energy can cost more than 20% of their monthly income.
