And sometimes more stuff just isn’t what we (or the environment) need. That’s why our 2025 holiday gift guide is full of digital and subscription-based gifts that are sure to make your holiday gifting a little less stressful.
Going the digital or subscription-based route this holiday season has a lot of benefits.
- You can send them instantly for recipients far away or if your gift is last minute. (It happens to the best of us!)
- You can extend your gift beyond one day to give your recipient joy all year.
- You’ll be filling their life with new experiences instead of filling their home with potential clutter.

We’ve broken down our list into four categories to help you find something that’ll be a perfect fit for each of your loved ones.
Learning & Skill-Building Subscriptions

It’s an online learning platform that provides video classes from world-renowned experts and celebrities across a wide range of subjects. Learn cooking from Gordon Ramsay or athletic prowess from Serena Williams. Their roster is impressive, and your loved one is sure to find something interesting.
- Duolingo – Duolingo is the leading language learning platform, great for the travelers on your list or for those who like to stretch their brains with new skills. While the platform itself is free, you can upgrade to “Super Duolingo” to get a premium experience with several benefits including offline lessons and personalized practice.
Streaming & Entertainment Subscriptions
- Movie Theater Subscription – Great for the movie buffs in your life,a movie theater subscription provides a certain number of tickets or unlimited screenings for a fixed price. The plans often include perks like discounts on concessions, waived online ticketing fees, and access to premium formats. Some examples include AMC Stubs A-List, Cinemark Movie Club, and Regal Unlimited. Some local and specialty theaters include Historic Park Theatre (Estes Park), Denver Film (Sie FilmCenter), Landmark Theatres, Marcus Theatres, and MoviePass.
- Venue Subscription – If you’ve got a loved one who enjoys shows, from comedy to the performing arts, a lot of venues will offer memberships or subscriptions that come with perks. You can start your search at places like Denver Comedy Works, Boulder Ballet, and the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins.

Others are still exploring methods of mindfulness to find what’s right for them. For folks in either category, some good digital subscription based options are Rose Buddha, Headspace, and Find What Feels Good.

Tips & Things to Watch for When Giving Digital or Subscription-Based Gifts
There are a few things you should keep in mind when shopping digitally or subscription based. They are:
- Check compatibility – Ensure that the recipient can use the gift in their region and that shipping or availability isn’t limited.
- Interest match – All of these gift suggestions are great only if the recipient is likely to use it. So, do the work to ensure you’re matching your recipient’s interests with the gift.
- Delivery mode – While the subscription boxes will arrive to their home or wherever you specify, digital subscriptions are often sent via email or as digital codes.
- Duration matters – You get to decide what duration to gift, with popular options being 1 month, 3 months, and 12 months. Longer durations may offer better value and feel more substantial to the recipient.
- Auto-renewal – Some subscriptions renew automatically after the gifted period ends. Remember to check this and either alert the recipient or disable renewal.
- Plan for a recipient who already subscribes – If the person already subscribes, you can gift a subscription that would extend theirs or allows them to upgrade.
