Tips & Things to Watch for When Giving Digital or Subscription-Based Gifts

There are a few things you should keep in mind when shopping digitally or subscription based. They are:

  • Check compatibility – Ensure that the recipient can use the gift in their region and that shipping or availability isn’t limited.  
  • Interest match – All of these gift suggestions are great only if the recipient is likely to use it. So, do the work to ensure you’re matching your recipient’s interests with the gift.
  • Delivery mode – While the subscription boxes will arrive to their home or wherever you specify, digital subscriptions are often sent via email or as digital codes.
  • Duration matters – You get to decide what duration to gift, with popular options being 1 month, 3 months, and 12 months. Longer durations may offer better value and feel more substantial to the recipient.
  • Auto-renewal – Some subscriptions renew automatically after the gifted period ends. Remember to check this and either alert the recipient or disable renewal.
  • Plan for a recipient who already subscribes – If the person already subscribes, you can gift a subscription that would extend theirs or allows them to upgrade.
