Kate & George chose Namaste Solar as their long-term solar partner after their first solar contractor ghosted them – even after receiving their downpayment! Once they came to us, the difference was night and day. Learn more about their experience below.
What inspired you to start thinking about solar?
George: We bought a 1905 farmhouse that needed some work. And to meet our requirements on the HERS (Home Energy Rating System) report, we needed to have supplemental energy.

You initially went to a different contractor and had some issues. You then came to Namaste Solar. Can you speak to that experience?
Kate: When I did the initial search, I reached out to Namaste Solar and another contractor. The other contractor was slightly more competitive. We were pretty early in the process and were just trying to figure out what our budget was going to be. We decided to go with the other company at first and paid them a downpayment. But then they stopped returning our calls. And I thought, “Oh my god, have we been bamboozled? Are we going to get our money back?”
It turned out that our salesperson had left the company. So, I called the CEO and told them that we were going to take our business from them, and we needed our money back. They ended up returning our downpayment.
We then reached out to Namaste Solar. And from the moment we hired you, it was like boom, boom, boom. Things were up and running so smoothly. It was no trouble getting people on the phone. Scheduling was simple. You came when you said you were going to. The staff was really nice. You installed a great system in a timely manner.
What was your decision-making process like for going solar?
Kate: I think that we have always wanted to go solar. Our previous home was north facing, and we were surrounded by other houses, so it didn’t make sense. And with this house, it was silly not to because it’s in a great location. We don’t have any big trees and have a lot of open sky above us. We’re really starting to see the benefits of it.
George: We want to do our best for climate change. We really do. So that’s a driver for us.
How has solar positively impacted your lifestyle?
George: The electric bill has gone down quite a bit. And it’s fun to look in the Enphase app and see what we’re producing on any given day. We’ve produced 8.7 kW already today.
Kate: Yeah, we get a kick out of looking at how much energy we’ve accumulated. It really is a fun process.

You mentioned that you had two different perspectives about the whole thing. Do you want to talk about that?
Kate: I was more involved with the upfront parts like getting quotes and dealing with companies. It was like I was the person at the front desk. And George has always been the man on the ground with house projects. He was more available to the team that was installing.
How did the installation go from your perspective, George?
George: It went really well. We had one hiccup – inclement weather – so that was no one’s fault. They did a great job. They installed in January, and it was cold. And they did so well getting it done regardless.
What made you choose Namaste Solar?
Kate: Certainly Namaste Solar has a great reputation in Boulder. We see the trucks around all the time. And I think it was also that we were ready to install, and we weren’t getting anything back from the other company. You were ready and responsive. When a company does what they say they’re going to do, when they say they’re going to do it, then I am a huge fan and am happy to support your business. You guys were just there and that means a lot. I work in coaching and training and we have this phrase, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.” So, when the other company showed us how they do things, they lost our business. It was no longer feeling like a good decision to work with them. And switching over to Namaste Solar, how you do one thing is how you do everything. And your way of doing things made us very confident in our decision to work with you.
How has solar financially impacted you?
George: The big thing was that $53 electric bill was pretty amazing. I’d never heard of that before. Before solar, our bill was several hundred dollars in December and January.

What was your experience working with us?
George: Everyone was friendly, they showed up on time, and they just got to work. They were tidy and worked safely. It was a top notch professional job all around.
If you were recommending someone explore the benefits of solar in three sentences, what would you say?
George: Go to Namaste Solar. They’re competitive, they’re efficient, and they get the job done. And they’re there for you.
Kate: I would say, go to Namaste Solar. They really are a long-term partner. And they take a lot of pride in everything that they do.
