PROJECT DETAILS

The RTD site originally held 2,490 solar air collectors, installed in the 1980s. These collectors were removed and re-distributed to educational organizations and Native American tribes, with the majority going to the Navajo Nation. This resulted in no panels ending up in a landfill. Additionally, Namaste Solar co-owners helped with training on how to refurbish the panels and reinstall them at other locations. A 500 kW solar PV system was then installed at the RTD site, where we repurposed the existing racking system from the air collectors.
